Rat ADCYAP1 (Adenylate Cyclase Activating Polypeptide 1, Pituitary) ELISA Kit

The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Rat ADCYAP1. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells then with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Rat ADCYAP1. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Rat ADCYAP1, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of Rat ADCYAP1 in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve. Protein Function: PACAP is a neuropeptide involved in diverse array of physiological processes through activating the PACAP subfamily of class B1 G protein-coupled receptors: VIP receptor 1 (VIPR1), VIP receptor 2 (VIPR2), and PACAP type I receptor (ADCYAP1R1). Exerts neuroprotective and general cytoprotective effects due to anti-apoptotic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant actions (By similarity). Promotes neuron projection development through the RAPGEF2/Rap1/B-Raf/ERK pathway (PubMed:23800469). In chromaffin cells, induces long-lasting increase of intracellular calcium concentrations and neuroendocrine secretion (PubMed:18198219). Involved in the control of glucose homeostasis, induces insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells (By similarity).
