Human VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) Microsample ELISA Kit

The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human VIP. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells then with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Human VIP. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Human VIP, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of Human VIP in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.Detection Range: 7.82-500 pg/mL. Sensitivity: 2.65 pg/mL. Protein Function: VIP is a neuropeptide involved in a diverse array of physiological processes through activating the PACAP subfamily of class B1 G protein-coupled receptors: VIP receptor 1 (VPR1) and VIP receptor 2 (VPR2) (PubMed:1318039, PubMed:36385145, PubMed:8933357). Abundantly expressed throughout the CNS and peripheral nervous systems where they primarily exert neuroprotective and immune modulatory roles (PubMed:3456568). Also causes vasodilation, lowers arterial blood pressure, stimulates myocardial contractility, increases glycogenolysis and relaxes the smooth muscle of trachea, stomach and gall bladder (PubMed:15013843) , PHM-27 and PHV-42 are two bioactive forms from proteolysis of the same precursor protein, that cause vasodilation (PubMed:15013843, PubMed:3654650). PHM-27 is a potent agonist of the calcitonin receptor CALCR, with similar efficacy as calcitonin (PubMed:15013843) [The Uniprot Consortium]
