Product information "Anti-Human SV2A Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A) is a membrane protein present in synaptic vesicles that plays a crucial role in regulating neurotransmitter release and synaptic function. Its expression is reduced in temporal lobe epilepsy patients, and this reduction correlates with the degree of hippocampal sclerosis, suggesting a link between SV2A levels and epilepsy pathogenesis. In Alzheimer's disease (AD), SV2A mRNA and protein levels are significantly decreased in the hippocampus of AD patients compared to controls, and this reduction is consistent with the location of amyloid-beta (Abeta) deposition, implying that SV2A may interact with key AD pathogenic proteins like Abeta. Abrogation of SV2A promotes Abeta production, further supporting its involvement in AD pathogenesis. Protein Function: Plays a role in the control of regulated secretion in neural and endocrine cells, enhancing selectively low-frequency neurotransmission. Positively regulates vesicle fusion by maintaining the readily releasable pool of secretory vesicles (By similarity) , (Microbial infection) Receptor for the C.botulinum neurotoxin type A2 (BoNT/A, botA), glycosylation is not essential but enhances the interaction (PubMed:29649119). Probably also serves as a receptor for the closely related C.botulinum neurotoxin type A1 [The Uniprot Consortium]
