Product information "Anti-Human GSTA4 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Glutathione S-transferase alpha 4 (GSTA4) is a phase II detoxifying enzyme involved in cellular defense against toxic, carcinogenic, and pharmacologically active electrophilic compounds. It catalyzes the conjugation of reduced glutathione to a wide range of exogenous and endogenous hydrophobic electrophiles, with high efficiency for 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE). GSTA4 is expressed in various tissues, including liver, kidney, and brain, and plays a crucial role in protecting cells from oxidative stress. The enzyme is encoded by the GSTA4 gene located on chromosome 6 in humans. GSTA4 has been implicated in several diseases, including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and atherosclerosis. Decreased expression of GSTA4 has been observed in burn and trauma victims, while increased expression has been noted in colorectal cancer. Protein Function: Conjugation of reduced glutathione to a wide number of exogenous and endogenous hydrophobic electrophiles. This isozyme has a high catalytic efficiency with 4-hydroxyalkenals such as 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) [The Uniprot Consortium]
