Product information "Anti-Human CRISP2 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Cysteine rich secretory protein 2 (CRISP2) is a member of the CAP superfamily proteins predominantly expressed in the male reproductive tract during spermatogenesis, where it becomes incorporated into developing sperm head and tail. CRISP2 plays crucial roles in multiple aspects of sperm function, including regulating calcium fluxes during sperm capacitation by modulating ion channel activity, facilitating the acrosome reaction, and establishing normal flagellum waveform for proper sperm motility. The protein contains an N-terminal domain with cell-to-cell adhesion properties and a C-terminal domain that regulates calcium RyR channels, contributing to sperm hyperactivation. CRISP2 also participates in gamete fusion through interaction with egg plasma membrane complementary sites. Deficiency in CRISP2 results in subfertility in males due to impaired sperm motility, characterized by a stiff midpiece and inability to achieve rapid progressive movement. CRISP2 has been clinically associated with human fertility, as it binds to the CATSPER1 subunit of the Catsper ion channel necessary for normal sperm function. Protein Function: May regulate some ion channels' activity and thereby regulate calcium fluxes during sperm capacitation [The Uniprot Consortium]
