Product Description: Cyclin dependent kinase like 2 (CDKL2) is a serine/threonine protein kinase encoded by the CDKL2 gene in humans. It is a member of the CDC2-related protein kinase family and accumulates primarily in the cytoplasm, with lower levels in the nucleus. CDKL2 exhibits ATP binding and protein serine/threonine kinase activity, playing a role in cell cycle regulation and cognitive functions. The protein is highly expressed in regions associated with cognition and emotion, such as the hippocampal formation and amygdala. CDKL2 is involved in the regulation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and has been implicated in tumor progression. Decreased CDKL2 expression correlates with poor prognosis in glioma. Additionally, CDKL2 has been associated with Meckel Syndrome Type 4 and Orofaciodigital Syndrome VI, suggesting its importance in developmental processes.
