Product information "Anti-Human CD13 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Membrane alanyl aminopeptidase (ANPEP), also known as aminopeptidase N, is a zinc-dependent metalloprotease encoded by the ANPEP gene in humans. This enzyme is primarily located in the microvillar membrane of the small intestine and renal tubular cells, where it plays a critical role in the final digestion of peptides derived from dietary proteins. ANPEP exhibits broad substrate specificity, facilitating the processing of various peptides, including peptide hormones and neuropeptides, and is involved in immune responses by cleaving peptides associated with major histocompatibility complex class II molecules. ANPEP's dysfunction is linked to several diseases, notably B-lymphoblastic leukemia and lymphoma, as well as gastrointestinal disorders like gastroenteritis. Additionally, it serves as a receptor for certain viruses, including human coronavirus 229E, highlighting its role in viral pathogenesis. The protein's properties include a large extracellular domain that contributes to its enzymatic activity and receptor functions, which may also influence processes such as angiogenesis and tumor progression. Protein Function: Broad specificity aminopeptidase which plays a role in the final digestion of peptides generated from hydrolysis of proteins by gastric and pancreatic proteases. Also involved in the processing of various peptides including peptide hormones, such as angiotensin III and IV, neuropeptides, and chemokines. May also be involved the cleavage of peptides bound to major histocompatibility complex class II molecules of antigen presenting cells. May have a role in angiogenesis and promote cholesterol crystallization. May have a role in amino acid transport by acting as binding partner of amino acid transporter SLC6A19 and regulating its activity (By similarity) , (Microbial infection) Acts as a receptor for human coronavirus 229E/HCoV-229E. In case of human coronavirus 229E (HCoV-229E) infection, serves as receptor for HCoV-229E spike glycoprotein , (Microbial infection) Mediates as well Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection [The Uniprot Consortium]
