Product information "Anti-Human ApoA4 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Apolipoprotein A4 (APOA4) is a crucial lipid-binding protein primarily synthesized in the small intestine, where it plays a significant role in lipid metabolism and absorption. The protein, consisting of 376 amino acids, is secreted into circulation on chylomicrons and high-density lipoproteins (HDL), contributing to the regulation of lipid transport and metabolism. APOA4 is known to activate lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) and modulate appetite and satiety, indicating its involvement in energy homeostasis. In terms of disease associations, APOA4 deficiency has been linked to metabolic disorders such as atherosclerosis and diabetes. Additionally, variations in the APOA4 gene have been implicated in familial hyperlipidemia. The protein exhibits antioxidant properties and may protect against atherosclerosis by influencing cholesterol metabolism and reducing inflammation. Protein Function: May have a role in chylomicrons and VLDL secretion and catabolism. Required for efficient activation of lipoprotein lipase by ApoC-II, potent activator of LCAT. Apoa-IV is a major component of HDL and chylomicrons [The Uniprot Consortium]
