Product Description: Versican (VCAN) is a large extracellular matrix proteoglycan that plays a critical role in cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation. It is encoded by the VCAN gene and exists in five isoforms (V0, V1, V2, V3, V4), which differ in their glycosaminoglycan (GAG) attachment domains. The core protein of versican contains globular domains at the amino and carboxyl termini, with the central domain decorated with chondroitin sulfate chains that contribute to its negative charge and various biological properties. Versican is involved in the development of various tissues, including the heart and nervous system, and its expression is often observed in pathological conditions such as cancer and autoimmune diseases.
