Product Description: Ubiquitin specific peptidase 54 (USP54) is a deubiquitinating enzyme belonging to the ubiquitin-specific protease family. It plays a crucial role in regulating protein stability and function by removing ubiquitin molecules from target proteins. USP54 is expressed in various tissues and is involved in maintaining stem cell properties. The enzyme's structure includes a catalytic domain responsible for its deubiquitinating activity. In terms of disease associations, USP54 has been implicated in cancer progression, particularly in colorectal cancer and prostate cancer. It is overexpressed in intestinal stem cells and colorectal cancer stem cells, promoting tumorigenesis. High levels of USP54 are associated with poor prognosis in colorectal carcinoma. Specifically recognizes ubiquitin chain in position S2 and catalyzes cleavage of polyubiquitin within 'Lys-63'-linked chains (PubMed:39587316). Not able to deubiquitinate substrates with shorter ubiquitin chains (PubMed:39587316).
