Product information "Anti-Human UBE4A Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Ubiquitination factor E4A (UBE4A) is a human protein encoded by the UBE4A gene located on chromosome 11 and functions primarily as a ubiquitin-protein ligase, likely acting as both an E3 and E4 ligase in the ubiquitination pathway. UBE4A is involved in the assembly of multiubiquitin chains, a critical step in targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for proteasomal degradation, thereby maintaining protein quality control within the cell. The protein interacts with other ubiquitination machinery components, such as E1 and E2 enzymes, and has been shown to catalyze the ubiquitination of specific substrates, including NRF1, facilitating its processing and regulating cellular stress responses. Structurally, UBE4A contains domains characteristic of ubiquitin ligases and displays multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing, with its molecular features and interaction partners mapped in protein databases. Mutations or dysregulation of UBE4A have been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders and may play a role in cancer progression, such as influencing p53 expression in colorectal cancer. Protein Function: Ubiquitin-protein ligase that probably functions as an E3 ligase in conjunction with specific E1 and E2 ligases. May also function as an E4 ligase mediating the assembly of polyubiquitin chains on substrates ubiquitinated by another E3 ubiquitin ligase. Mediates 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitination of substrates [The Uniprot Consortium]
