Product information "Anti-Human TMPRSS15 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Enteropeptidase (TMPRSS15) is a type II transmembrane serine protease that plays a crucial role in the digestive process by converting trypsinogen into its active form, trypsin. This activation is essential for the subsequent activation of other pancreatic zymogens, facilitating nutrient digestion and absorption in the small intestine. Enteropeptidase is primarily expressed in the duodenum and jejunum, where it is localized to the brush border of enterocytes. Mutations in the TMPRSS15 can lead to enteropeptidase deficiency, a rare genetic disorder that results in severe malabsorption and failure to thrive in infants due to the inability to activate trypsinogen. Additionally, enteropeptidase has been implicated in pancreatic diseases, including acute necrotizing pancreatitis, where its dysregulation can lead to inappropriate activation of digestive enzymes within the pancreas, causing inflammation and damage. Protein Function: Responsible for initiating activation of pancreatic proteolytic proenzymes (trypsin, chymotrypsin and carboxypeptidase A). It catalyzes the conversion of trypsinogen to trypsin which in turn activates other proenzymes including chymotrypsinogen, procarboxypeptidases, and proelastases [The Uniprot Consortium]
