Product information "Anti-Human STEAP1 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: STEAP family member 1 (STEAP1) is a six-transmembrane domain protein composed of 339 amino acids, encoded by a gene located on chromosome 7q21.13. Structurally, STEAP1 features two intracellular and three extracellular loops, with both termini facing the cytoplasm, and contains a C-terminal domain homologous to b-type cytochrome metalloreductases, suggesting a role in electron transport. Recent studies indicate that STEAP1 can participate in iron metabolism by transferring electrons through its B-heme group and potentially forming heterotrimers with STEAP4, which possesses NADPH-binding capability. Cryo-EM analysis reveals a trimeric structure with conserved FAD- and heme-binding sites, supporting its function as a transmembrane oxidoreductase involved in iron reduction. STEAP1 is predominantly expressed in prostate tissue and is highly upregulated in various cancers, particularly prostate cancer, where it enhances cell proliferation and metastatic potential. Protein Function: Does not function as a metalloreductase due to the absence of binding sites for the electron-donating substrate NADPH. Promotes Fe(3+) reduction when fused to the NADPH-binding domain of STEAP4 [The Uniprot Consortium]
