Product information "Anti-Human Stanniocalcin-1 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Stanniocalcin 1 (STC1) is a secreted glycoprotein hormone involved in calcium and phosphate homeostasis. Structurally, it forms disulfide-linked homodimers with a molecular weight of approximately 34 kDa. STC1 is expressed in diverse tissues, including the kidney, ovary, prostate, and skeletal muscle, and exerts its effects by binding calcium ions and modulating phosphate transport, particularly in renal and intestinal epithelia. It also regulates cellular responses to hypoxia, apoptosis, and oxidative stress, often via activation of signaling pathways like PI3K/AKT and ERK. STC1 is implicated in angiogenesis, mitochondrial function, and inflammation, highlighting its pleiotropic roles in physiology. Pathologically, STC1 is associated with cancers, such as breast, ovarian, and colorectal malignancies, where it can act as an oncogene by promoting tumor growth, metastasis, and chemoresistance. Conversely, in some contexts, it exhibits tumor-suppressive properties. Additionally, STC1 has protective roles in cardiovascular diseases, including ischemia-reperfusion injury, by reducing oxidative damage. Protein Function: Stimulates renal phosphate reabsorption, and could therefore prevent hypercalcemia [The Uniprot Consortium]
