Product information "Anti-Human SPINK1 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Serine peptidase inhibitor Kazal type 1 (SPINK1) is a secreted protein that functions as a protease inhibitor, primarily targeting trypsin. It contains 79 amino acids, including a 23-amino acid signal peptide, and features three intramolecular disulfide bridges. SPINK1 is mainly expressed in the pancreas, where it prevents premature activation of digestive enzymes. It also exhibits growth factor-like properties, binding to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and activating downstream signaling pathways. SPINK1 plays roles in regulating autophagy and cellular proliferation. Mutations in the SPINK1 gene are associated with chronic pancreatitis and hereditary pancreatitis. Additionally, SPINK1 overexpression has been linked to various cancers, including pancreatic, ovarian, and prostate cancer, where it promotes tumor growth, metastasis, and drug resistance. Protein Function: Serine protease inhibitor which exhibits anti-trypsin activity (PubMed:7142173). In the pancreas, protects against trypsin-catalyzed premature activation of zymogens (By similarity) , In the male reproductive tract, binds to sperm heads where it modulates sperm capacitance by inhibiting calcium uptake and nitrogen oxide (NO) production [The Uniprot Consortium]
