Product Description: SNAP25 is a protein involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release and synaptic plasticity. Genetic studies have found associations between SNAP25 gene variants and several neurological and psychiatric disorders, including Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, and epilepsy. Altered expression levels or function of SNAP25 may contribute to the pathogenesis of these conditions by disrupting neurotransmission, synaptic vesicle trafficking, and calcium dynamics. In Parkinson's disease specifically, SNAP25 concentration is increased in the cerebrospinal fluid, and this increase correlates with cognitive impairment severity, suggesting a potential role for SNAP25 in the cognitive deficits associated with the disease.
