Product information "Anti-Human SEC23IP Antibody Pair"
Product Description: SEC23 interacting protein (SEC23IP), also known as p125, is a mammalian-specific protein localized at the endoplasmic reticulum exit sites (ERES) where it plays a critical role in the organization and function of ERES and in COPII-coated vesicle trafficking from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. Structurally, SEC23IP has phospholipase A1-like activity and shares homology with phospholipid-modifying proteins, and it directly interacts with VPS13B, recruiting it to ERES-Golgi interface to maintain Golgi structure and facilitate vesicle transport. SEC23IP contains domains such as sterile alpha motif (SAM) and DDHD, with its N-terminal region essential for binding VPS13B. Functional disruption of SEC23IP leads to Golgi fragmentation and disorganization of the ER-Golgi intermediate compartment. Additionally, SEC23IP is important in spermiogenesis and cholesterol trafficking relevant to steroidogenesis. Protein Function: Plays a role in the organization of endoplasmic reticulum exit sites. Specifically binds to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PI(3)P), phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI(4)P) and phosphatidylinositol 5-phosphate (PI(5)P) [The Uniprot Consortium]
