Product information "Anti-Human RRM2B Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Ribonucleotide reductase regulatory TP53 inducible subunit M2B (RRM2B) is a critical component of the ribonucleotide reductase enzyme, which catalyzes the conversion of ribonucleotides to deoxyribonucleotides for DNA synthesis and repair. RRM2B is induced by p53 and plays a vital role in maintaining mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and nuclear DNA integrity, especially in non-proliferating cells. It forms an active complex with RRM1 and exhibits anti-reactive oxygen species (ROS) properties. RRM2B is essential for DNA repair, cell cycle regulation, and mitochondrial homeostasis. Mutations in the RRM2B gene are associated with mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome (MDDS), a severe condition affecting multiple body systems, characterized by encephalomyopathy, renal tubulopathy, and mtDNA depletion. Additionally, RRM2B mutations have been linked to progressive external ophthalmoplegia and may contribute to gemcitabine resistance in certain cancers. Protein Function: Plays a pivotal role in cell survival by repairing damaged DNA in a p53/TP53-dependent manner. Supplies deoxyribonucleotides for DNA repair in cells arrested at G1 or G2. Contains an iron-tyrosyl free radical center required for catalysis. Forms an active ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) complex with RRM1 which is expressed both in resting and proliferating cells in response to DNA damage [The Uniprot Consortium]
