Product Description: Protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 6 (PTPN6), also known as Src homology region 2 domain-containing phosphatase-1 (SHP-1), is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in regulating various cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, and oncogenic transformation. PTPN6 is primarily expressed in hematopoietic cells and functions as an important regulator of multiple signaling pathways in these cells. It contains two tandem Src homolog (SH2) domains that mediate interactions with substrates and dephosphorylate a wide spectrum of phospho-proteins involved in hematopoietic cell signaling. In terms of disease association, alterations in the PTPN6 gene have been linked to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. For instance, mutations in PTPN6 can lead to neutrophilic dermatoses, a condition characterized by excessive inflammation and skin lesions. Additionally, PTPN6 has been implicated in the regulation of the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, which is critical for immune responses and can be dysregulated in various diseases.
