Product information "Anti-Human PSMA6 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Proteasome 20S subunit alpha 6 (PSMA6) is a 27 kDa protein composed of 246 amino acids and encoded by the PSMA6 gene located at chromosome 14q13. As one of the seven alpha subunits forming the outer rings of the barrel-shaped 20S proteasome core, PSMA6 is essential for the assembly and function of the proteasome complex, which is responsible for the ATP/ubiquitin-dependent degradation of most intracellular proteins, maintaining protein homeostasis by removing misfolded, damaged, or regulatory proteins. The 20S core can associate with regulatory particles such as 19S, PA200, or PA28, enabling both ubiquitin-dependent and -independent proteolysis, which is crucial in processes like antigen presentation and spermatogenesis. Clinically, PSMA6 expression is upregulated in certain diseases, including breast cancer and viral hepatitis, suggesting a role in disease progression and immune regulation, with higher expression observed in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues. Protein Function: Component of the 20S core proteasome complex involved in the proteolytic degradation of most intracellular proteins. This complex plays numerous essential roles within the cell by associating with different regulatory particles. Associated with two 19S regulatory particles, forms the 26S proteasome and thus participates in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. The 26S proteasome plays a key role in the maintenance of protein homeostasis by removing misfolded or damaged proteins that could impair cellular functions, and by removing proteins whose functions are no longer required. Associated with the PA200 or PA28, the 20S proteasome mediates ubiquitin-independent protein degradation. This type of proteolysis is required in several pathways including spermatogenesis (20S-PA200 complex) or generation of a subset of MHC class I-presented antigenic peptides (20S-PA28 complex) [The Uniprot Consortium]
