Product Description: Proteasome 20S subunit alpha 1 (PSMA1) is a protein encoded by the PSMA1 gene in humans. It is one of the 17 essential subunits that contribute to the complete assembly of the 20S proteasome complex, which is crucial for the degradation of intracellular proteins. The 20S proteasome is composed of four stacked rings, two alpha and two beta rings, with the beta rings forming a proteolytic chamber and the alpha rings forming the entrance for substrates. PSMA1, also known as proteasome subunit alpha type-1, encodes the alpha6 subunit that makes up the outer ring of the 20S core particle. This protein plays a significant role in various biological processes, including protein quality control and the processing of class I MHC peptides. In disease contexts, PSMA1 has been implicated in tumor progression and poor prognosis in gastric carcinoma by deubiquitinating and stabilizing TAZ.
