Product information "Anti-Human Periostin Antibody Pair"
Product Description: POSTN (periostin) is a matricellular protein that plays diverse roles in both physiological and pathological processes. It is involved in embryonic development, tissue repair, and maintenance of bone and connective tissues. However, abnormal upregulation of POSTN is associated with various diseases, particularly cancer and inflammatory conditions. In cancer, POSTN promotes tumor progression by enhancing cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis through interactions with integrins and activation of signaling pathways like MAPK and PI3K/AKT. It also contributes to the tumor microenvironment by promoting angiogenesis and fibrosis. In inflammatory diseases such as asthma and fibrosis, POSTN interacts with cytokines and activates pathways like NF-kappaB, exacerbating inflammation and tissue remodeling. Additionally, POSTN has been implicated in cardiovascular diseases and intervertebral disc degeneration. Its multifaceted roles in disease progression make POSTN a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for various conditions. Protein Function: Induces cell attachment and spreading and plays a role in cell adhesion (PubMed:12235007). Enhances incorporation of BMP1 in the fibronectin matrix of connective tissues, and subsequent proteolytic activation of lysyl oxidase LOX (By similarity) [The Uniprot Consortium]
