Product Description: Nucleobindin 1 (NUCB1), also known as calnuc, is a calcium-binding protein encoded by the NUCB1 gene, primarily involved in Golgi calcium homeostasis and signal transduction. It exists as a dimer and binds two calcium ions, which induces conformational changes that affect its interactions with G proteins, specifically inhibiting the GDP release from Galpha_i1 proteins. This function positions NUCB1 as a calcium-dependent guanine nucleotide dissociation inhibitor (GDI), playing a crucial role in regulating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathways.
