Product information "Anti-Human MTCL1 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Microtubule crosslinking factor 1 (MTCL1) is a microtubule-associated protein characterized by two independent microtubule-binding regions at its N- and C-termini, enabling it to crosslink and stabilize non-centrosomal microtubules, particularly in polarized epithelial cells. MTCL1 plays a critical role in organizing microtubule networks by accumulating microtubules along the lateral membrane and facilitating the formation of stable, Golgi-associated microtubule arrays essential for Golgi ribbon structure and function. It acts as a scaffold protein, recruiting and interacting with other regulatory proteins such as PAR-1b, CLASPs, and AKAP450/CG-NAP to maintain microtubule dynamics and cellular polarity. Disruption or knockdown of MTCL1 impairs the development of apicobasal microtubule bundles, leading to defects in cell polarity and Golgi organization. Its essential role in cytoskeletal organization suggests that its dysfunction could contribute to pathological states involving impaired cell polarity or intracellular transport. Protein Function: Microtubule-associated factor involved in the late phase of epithelial polarization and microtubule dynamics regulation (PubMed:23902687). Plays a role in the development and maintenance of non-centrosomal microtubule bundles at the lateral membrane in polarized epithelial cells (PubMed:23902687). Required for faithful chromosome segregation during mitosis (PubMed:33587225) [The Uniprot Consortium]
