Product information "Anti-Human MSR1 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Macrophage scavenger receptor types I and II (MSR1) is a membrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the immune response by mediating the endocytosis of modified lipoproteins and other macromolecules. Encoded by the MSR1 gene, it exists in multiple isoforms, primarily types I and II, which are functional receptors involved in lipid metabolism and the clearance of cellular debris. MSR1 is predominantly expressed on macrophages but can also be found in other cell types, including dendritic cells. Dysregulation of MSR1 has been implicated in various diseases, particularly atherosclerosis, where it contributes to foam cell formation and plaque development. Additionally, its role in Alzheimer's disease has been noted, as it may facilitate the uptake of amyloid-beta peptides. Protein Function: Membrane glycoproteins implicated in the pathologic deposition of cholesterol in arterial walls during atherogenesis. Two types of receptor subunits exist. These receptors mediate the endocytosis of a diverse group of macromolecules, including modified low density lipoproteins (LDL) (PubMed:2251254). Isoform III does not internalize acetylated LDL (PubMed:9548586) [The Uniprot Consortium]
