Product information "Anti-Human MFAP5 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Microfibrillar-associated protein 5 (MFAP5), also known as microfibril-associated glycoprotein 2 (MAGP2), is an extracellular matrix protein that plays a significant role in the structural integrity and function of microfibrils. It is primarily involved in the assembly and stabilization of elastic fibers, contributing to tissue elasticity and resilience. MFAP5 interacts with various cellular components, including integrins such as alphavbeta3, promoting cell adhesion and migration. This protein is particularly important in wound healing and tissue repair, where it regulates fibroblast behavior, collagen deposition, and angiogenesis. Dysregulation of MFAP5 has been implicated in several diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and various cancers, such as basal-like breast cancer, where its overexpression correlates with enhanced tumor progression and metastasis. Additionally, MFAP5 is associated with fibrotic conditions, influencing the transition of normal tissue to a fibrotic phenotype. Protein Function: May play a role in hematopoiesis. In the cardiovascular system, could regulate growth factors or participate in cell signaling in maintaining large vessel integrity (By similarity). Component of the elastin-associated microfibrils (PubMed:8557636) [The Uniprot Consortium]
