Product Description: Mesoderm development LRP chaperone (MESD) is a protein crucial for the proper functioning of the Wnt signaling pathway, particularly through its role in chaperoning the coreceptors LRP5 and LRP6 to the plasma membrane. It is involved in various biological processes, including ossification and protein folding, and is predicted to enable low-density lipoprotein particle receptor binding activity. In humans, MESD is encoded by the gene located on chromosome 15. Notably, loss-of-function mutations in the MESD gene have been associated with Osteogenesis imperfecta type 2, a severe form of brittle bone disease characterized by bone fragility and other skeletal abnormalities. Protein Function: Chaperone specifically assisting the folding of beta-propeller/EGF modules within the family of low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLRs) (PubMed:15014448).
