Product Description: Multiple EGF like domains 9 (MEGF9) is a novel transmembrane protein characterized by its unique domain structure. It consists of an N-terminal region with several potential O-glycosylation sites, followed by five EGF-like domains that are highly homologous with the short arms of laminins. The protein also features a single-pass transmembrane domain and a highly conserved short intracellular domain with potential phosphorylation sites. MEGF9 is predominantly expressed in the developing and adult central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS), as well as in non-neuronal tissues such as the epidermal layer of skin, papillae of the tongue, and the epithelium of the gastrointestinal tract. It is involved in processes such as animal organ morphogenesis, cell migration, and substrate adhesion-dependent cell spreading, suggesting a role as a guidance or signaling molecule.
