Product information "Anti-Human LYSMD3 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: LysM domain containing 3 (LYSMD3) is a type II integral membrane protein characterized by an evolutionarily conserved LysM domain, which is a small globular motif (~40 amino acids) involved in binding peptidoglycan and chitin, common components of bacterial and fungal cell walls. This protein localizes primarily to the Golgi apparatus and plasma membrane, playing a role in Golgi structural integrity and organization. LYSMD3 is widely conserved across species, including humans, mice, zebrafish, flies, and worms, indicating its evolutionary importance. Functionally, LYSMD3 acts as a pattern recognition receptor on epithelial cells, particularly in the human airway, where it binds fungal components such as chitin and beta-glucan, mediating inflammatory cytokine responses to fungal spores. Despite its biochemical activity, studies using LysMD3-deficient mice have not demonstrated a clear physiological role in immune defense or intestinal microbiota regulation, suggesting its function may be context-dependent or redundant. Protein Function: Essential for Golgi structural integrity [The Uniprot Consortium]
