Product Description: Leukotriene A4 hydrolase (LTA4H) is a bifunctional zinc metalloenzyme with both epoxide hydrolase and aminopeptidase activities. It catalyzes the conversion of Leukotriene A4 (LTA4) to Leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a potent pro-inflammatory mediator, through its epoxide hydrolase function. Additionally, LTA4H exhibits aminopeptidase activity, cleaving N-terminal arginines from tripeptides and inactivating the neutrophil attractant Pro-Gly-Pro (PGP), thereby counteracting inflammation. The enzyme is also involved in the biosynthesis of resolvin E1 and 18S-resolvin E1, lipid mediators with anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving effects. Structurally, LTA4H is a cytosolic protein found in most mammalian cells and belongs to the peptidase M1 family. Phosphorylation at Ser-416 inhibits its hydrolase activity, providing a regulatory mechanism. Dysregulation of LTA4H is implicated in inflammatory diseases, cancer, and tuberculosis, with genetic polymorphisms influencing disease severity and response to therapy.
