Product information "Anti-Human KYNU Antibody Pair"
Product Description: KYNU is an enzyme that plays a key role in the kynurenine pathway, which is the primary metabolic pathway for the essential amino acid tryptophan. KYNU catalyzes the conversion of kynurenine and 3-hydroxy-L-kynurenine into anthranilic acid and 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, respectively. This pathway generates various neuroactive metabolites that have been implicated in a range of neurological and inflammatory diseases. Dysregulation of the kynurenine pathway and altered KYNU activity have been associated with several neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease. KYNU expression is also increased in inflammatory bowel diseases, where it may play a role in the development and progression of chronic inflammation. Additionally, genetic variations in the KYNU gene have been linked to cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancer. Protein Function: Catalyzes the cleavage of L-kynurenine (L-Kyn) and L-3-hydroxykynurenine (L-3OHKyn) into anthranilic acid (AA) and 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid (3-OHAA), respectively. Has a preference for the L-3-hydroxy form. Also has cysteine-conjugate-beta-lyase activity [The Uniprot Consortium]
