Product information "Anti-Human KIF16B Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Kinesin family member 16B (KIF16B) is a plus end-directed, microtubule-dependent motor protein belonging to the kinesin-3 family, widely expressed in various tissues such as brain, heart, liver, kidney, placenta, skeletal muscle, and white blood cells. Structurally, KIF16B features an N-terminal motor domain, multiple coiled-coil regions for dimerization, and a C-terminal cargo-binding domain with a unique PX domain that binds the membrane lipid PI(3)P, enabling it to directly interact with endosomal membranes. It exhibits a "stalk inhibition" mechanism that regulates its microtubule association and is notable for its superprocessive motility, with an average run length of approximately 10 µm, making it highly effective for long-range intracellular transport. Functionally, KIF16B is crucial for endosome transport, receptor recycling, and degradation, and it drives rapid recycling of MT1-MMP in macrophages, influencing processes such as cancer cell co-invasion. Disease associations include links to prostate cancer, congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscles, nonsmall cell lung cancer survival, and autosomal-recessive intellectual disability syndrome. Protein Function: Plus end-directed microtubule-dependent motor protein involved in endosome transport and receptor recycling and degradation. Regulates the plus end motility of early endosomes and the balance between recycling and degradation of receptors such as EGF receptor (EGFR) and FGF receptor (FGFR). Regulates the Golgi to endosome transport of FGFR-containing vesicles during early development, a key process for developing basement membrane and epiblast and primitive endoderm lineages during early postimplantation development [The Uniprot Consortium]
