Product information "Anti-Human IL8/CXCL8 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: CXCL8, also known as interleukin-8 (IL-8), is a potent neutrophil-attracting and -activating chemokine that plays a crucial role in the inflammatory response. CXCL8 is involved in the recruitment and migration of various immune cells, particularly neutrophils, to sites of inflammation. This can lead to the development of different inflammatory diseases, such as airway, gastrointestinal, neurological, and autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus. Elevated levels of CXCL8 have been found in inflamed tissues and the blood circulation in several inflammatory conditions. In addition, CXCL8 has been implicated in tumor biology, as it can promote cancer cell proliferation, survival, and angiogenesis in various types of cancer, including breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancer. Specific genetic polymorphisms in the CXCL8 gene have been associated with an increased risk or progression of certain cancers. Overall, the CXCL8-CXCR1/2 axis plays a significant role in both inflammatory diseases and cancer, making it an important target for clinical research and potential therapeutic interventions. Protein Function: Chemotactic factor that mediates inflammatory response by attracting neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells to clear pathogens and protect the host from infection (PubMed:18692776, PubMed:7636208). Also plays an important role in neutrophil activation (PubMed:2145175, PubMed:9623510). Released in response to an inflammatory stimulus, exerts its effect by binding to the G-protein-coupled receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2, primarily found in neutrophils, monocytes and endothelial cells (PubMed:1840701, PubMed:1891716). G-protein heterotrimer (alpha, beta, gamma subunits) constitutively binds to CXCR1/CXCR2 receptor and activation by IL8 leads to beta and gamma subunits release from Galpha (GNAI2 in neutrophils) and activation of several downstream signaling pathways including PI3K and MAPK pathways (PubMed:11971003, PubMed:8662698) [The Uniprot Consortium]
