Product information "Anti-Human HMOX2 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Heme oxygenase 2 (HMOX2) is a constitutive enzyme crucial for heme catabolism, converting heme into biliverdin, which is further metabolized to bilirubin, and releasing carbon monoxide (CO) and ferrous iron. HMOX2 is expressed in various tissues, particularly in the brain, testes, and endothelial cells, and plays a vital role in heme homeostasis, antioxidation, anti-inflammation, and metabolic regulation. The enzyme is encoded by the HMOX2 gene and has been associated with diseases such as neonatal jaundice and gastroparesis. HMOX2 genetic variants have also been linked to conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), essential tremors, multiple sclerosis, and age-related macular degeneration. The enzyme's activity is barely regulated at the transcriptional and translational levels, but it is essential for cellular protection and oxygen response. Protein Function: Catalyzes the oxidative cleavage of heme at the alpha-methene bridge carbon, released as carbon monoxide (CO), to generate biliverdin IXalpha, while releasing the central heme iron chelate as ferrous iron , Catalyzes the oxidative cleavage of heme at the alpha-methene bridge carbon, released as carbon monoxide (CO), to generate biliverdin IXalpha, while releasing the central heme iron chelate as ferrous iron [The Uniprot Consortium]
