Product information "Anti-Human GP5 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Glycoprotein V platelet (GP5) is a crucial component of the Ib-V-IX complex on platelet surfaces, functioning as a receptor for von Willebrand factor (VWF) and mediating platelet adhesion to injured vascular surfaces in arterial circulation. This 82 kDa membrane-associated protein is part of a heterodimer with alpha (GP1BA) and beta (GP1BB) chains, linked by disulfide bonds. GP5 plays a vital role in hemostasis and platelet activation, with its collagen-binding activity contributing to these processes. Mutations in GP5, along with GP1BA, GP1BB, and GP9, have been associated with Bernard-Soulier syndrome, a rare bleeding disorder characterized by abnormal platelet function. Additionally, recent research suggests that GP5 may be involved in regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition in breast cancer via the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Protein Function: The GPIb-V-IX complex functions as the vWF receptor and mediates vWF-dependent platelet adhesion to blood vessels. The adhesion of platelets to injured vascular surfaces in the arterial circulation is a critical initiating event in hemostasis [The Uniprot Consortium]
