Product Description: Frizzled related protein (FRZB), also known as secreted frizzled related protein 3 (SFRP3), is a Wnt-binding protein crucial in embryonic development, particularly in skeletal development and bone morphogenesis. It is a competitor for the cell-surface G-protein receptor Frizzled and lacks the 7 transmembrane domains found in G-protein-coupled receptors but contains a conserved cysteine-rich domain (CRD) and an intracellular C-terminus essential for signaling. FRZB is expressed in chondrocytes and plays a significant role in the development and maintenance of bone, cartilage, and joints by inhibiting the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway. Defects in FRZB are associated with an increased susceptibility to osteoarthritis, particularly female-specific osteoarthritis. Additionally, FRZB has been implicated in metabolic diseases such as lipid metabolism, obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and cardiovascular diseases.
