Product information "Anti-Human FGF5 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF5) is a protein encoded by the FGF5 gene in humans, consisting of 268 amino acids and weighing approximately 29.1 kDa. It plays a crucial role in various biological processes, particularly in regulating the hair growth cycle by signaling the transition from the anagen (growth) phase to the catagen (regression) phase. The protein interacts with specific tyrosine kinase receptors (FGFR1), and its expression is notably high during the late anagen phase of hair follicles. Mutations in FGF5 have been linked to conditions such as familial trichomegaly, characterized by excessively long eyelashes and hair, and androgenetic alopecia, where polymorphisms in FGF5 are associated with male pattern baldness. Additionally, FGF5 has been implicated in other diseases, for example, it has protective roles against sepsis-induced cardiac injury by modulating cellular pathways. Protein Function: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Required for normal regulation of the hair growth cycle. Functions as an inhibitor of hair elongation by promoting progression from anagen, the growth phase of the hair follicle, into catagen the apoptosis-induced regression phase (By similarity) [The Uniprot Consortium]
