Product information "Anti-Human EIF4B Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B (eIF4B) is a protein that plays a central role in promoting translation initiation by helping to unwind secondary structures within mRNA's 5' untranslated regions (UTRs). It functions by stimulating the helicase activity of eIF4A and interacting with eIF3 and the 18S ribosomal RNA. eIF4B is essential for translating mRNAs with complex secondary structures, many of which encode proteins involved in vital cellular processes. Its activity is regulated through phosphorylation events, particularly by the mTOR/PI3K and MAPK pathways, and it is subject to post-transcriptional modification. Overexpression of eIF4B has been linked to cancer progression due to its influence on the translation of pro-survival mRNAs. Protein Function: Required for the binding of mRNA to ribosomes. Functions in close association with EIF4-F and EIF4-A. Binds near the 5'-terminal cap of mRNA in presence of EIF-4F and ATP. Promotes the ATPase activity and the ATP-dependent RNA unwinding activity of both EIF4-A and EIF4-F [The Uniprot Consortium]
