Product Description: Proliferation-associated 2G4 (PA2G4), also known as ErbB3-binding protein 1 (EBP1), is an RNA-binding protein involved in growth regulation and is present in pre-ribosomal ribonucleoprotein complexes, suggesting a role in ribosome assembly and rRNA processing. PA2G4 functions as a transcriptional corepressor for androgen receptor-regulated genes and other cell cycle regulatory genes, interacting with histone deacetylases and key proteins such as the ErbB3 receptor, retinoblastoma protein, and androgen receptor. It is regulated by the ERBB3 ligand neuregulin-1 and may contribute to transducing growth regulatory signals, as well as inducing differentiation and growth inhibition in certain cellular contexts. In terms of disease association, PA2G4 expression is paradoxically decreased in prostate cancer but increased in acute myelogenous leukemia, indicating a complex role in tumorigenesis and cancer progression. Acts a corepressor of the androgen receptor (AR) and is regulated by the ERBB3 ligand neuregulin-1/heregulin (HRG).
