Product information "Anti-Human DRAXIN Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Dorsal inhibitory axon guidance protein (DRAXIN) is a secreted, 58 kDa glycosylated protein primarily expressed in the developing brain and spinal cord, where it functions as a chemorepulsive axon guidance molecule essential for neural circuit formation, including the spinal cord commissure, corpus callosum, and thalamocortical projections. Structurally, DRAXIN contains a signal sequence, a mature domain with a cysteine-rich region, and shares similarities with the DKK family of Wnt inhibitors, acting as a Wnt antagonist by binding to LRP6. It interacts with receptors such as DCC and Neo1, influencing axon pathfinding by inhibiting or repelling neurite outgrowth from dorsal spinal cord neurons and regulating the remodeling of midline structures necessary for commissural axon crossing. Disruption of DRAXIN function has been linked to abnormal neural development, particularly affecting the formation of the corpus callosum, which can result in neurodevelopmental disorders due to impaired axon guidance and midline crossing. Protein Function: Chemorepulsive axon guidance protein required for the development of spinal cord and forebrain commissures. Acts as a chemorepulsive guidance protein for commissural axons during development. Able to inhibit or repel neurite outgrowth from dorsal spinal cord. Inhibits the stabilization of cytosolic beta-catenin (CTNNB1) via its interaction with LRP6, thereby acting as an antagonist of Wnt signaling pathway [The Uniprot Consortium]
