Product information "Anti-Human CTSV Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Cathepsin V (CTSV), also known as cathepsin L2 or cathepsin U, is a lysosomal cysteine protease belonging to the papain-like protease family (MEROPS family C1) and exhibits endopeptidase activity, primarily functioning in protein degradation within lysosomes. CTSV is notable for its non-canonical localization to the nucleus, where it regulates cell cycle progression and histone stability by modulating the levels of histones H3 and H4 and their chaperone sNASP, highlighting its roles beyond traditional proteolysis. The protein is expressed in various tissues and is upregulated in certain cancers, such as colorectal and breast carcinomas, but not in corresponding normal tissues, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis. Clinically, CTSV has been implicated in the progression of bladder cancer via activation of the NF-kappaB pathway and may contribute to the pathogenesis of keratoconus. Protein Function: Cysteine protease. May have an important role in corneal physiology [The Uniprot Consortium]
