Product information "Anti-Human CTRC Antibody Pair"
Product Description: CTRC (Chymotrypsin C) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in pancreatic protection and the pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis. It degrades all human trypsin and trypsinogen isoforms with high specificity, mitigating premature trypsinogen activation in the pancreas. Mutations in the CTRC gene can lead to diminished CTRC activity or secretion, predisposing individuals to chronic pancreatitis. Several missense and deletion variants in CTRC have been identified in patients with idiopathic or hereditary pancreatitis, with some variants showing impaired secretion or activity in functional studies. Loss-of-function alterations in CTRC are associated with an increased risk of chronic pancreatitis, likely due to diminished protective trypsin degradation.CTRC plays a protective role in the pancreas by regulating trypsinogen activation, and its dysfunction contributes to the pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis. Protein Function: Regulates activation and degradation of trypsinogens and procarboxypeptidases by targeting specific cleavage sites within their zymogen precursors. Has chymotrypsin-type protease activity and hypocalcemic activity [The Uniprot Consortium]
