Product Description: REST corepressor 1 (RCOR1) is a well-conserved protein that plays a crucial role in neural cell differentiation. It is an essential component of the BHC complex, which represses transcription of neuron-specific genes in non-neuronal cells by binding to the C-terminal domain of REST. RCOR1 functions as a molecular beacon for recruiting machinery that imposes silencing across chromosomal intervals and is involved in histone demethylation and deacetylation. It is downregulated at birth and expressed in various tissues, including the brain, liver, and hematopoietic cells. RCOR1 has been implicated in several diseases, including Joubert Syndrome 1 and medulloblastoma.
