Product information "Anti-Human CDON Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Cell adhesion molecule-related/down-regulated by oncogenes (CDON) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and plays a significant role in cell signaling and development. CDON is involved in myogenic differentiation and is crucial for the regulation of neural crest cell migration by interacting with N-cadherin. It acts as a receptor for hedgehog (Hh) proteins, including Sonic Hh, Indian Hh, and Desert Hh, thereby modulating Hh signaling pathways critical for cell proliferation and differentiation during embryonic development. Dysregulation of CDON has been associated with several developmental disorders, particularly holoprosencephaly, a condition characterized by the failure of the forebrain to separate properly into hemispheres. Additionally, CDON has been implicated in other conditions, such as optic nerve hypoplasia and cardiac dysfunction, particularly when combined with environmental factors like prenatal alcohol exposure. Protein Function: Component of a cell-surface receptor complex that mediates cell-cell interactions between muscle precursor cells. Promotes differentiation of myogenic cells (By similarity) [The Uniprot Consortium]
