Product information "Anti-Human CDH12 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Cadherin 12 (CDH12) is a type II classical cadherin, part of the cadherin superfamily of integral membrane proteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion, primarily through homophilic interactions where the protein binds to itself on adjacent cells. Structurally, CDH12 consists of a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single transmembrane segment, and a small, highly conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. Unlike type I cadherins, type II cadherins such as CDH12 lack the HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence. CDH12 is predominantly expressed in the brain, with its expression pattern suggesting a significant role during neuronal development, particularly in synaptogenesis. Functionally, CDH12 contributes to the maintenance of tissue architecture and cellular signaling by facilitating stable cell-cell contacts. In terms of disease association, CDH12 has been implicated in cancer biology, for example, it enhances proliferation and promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in colorectal cancer cells, thereby increasing tumor progression. Protein Function: Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells, cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types [The Uniprot Consortium]
