Product information "Anti-Human CD79b Antibody Pair"
Product Description: CD79b molecule (CD79B) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that forms a heterodimer with CD79A to constitute the signaling component of the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) complex, which is essential for B-cell development and activation. The CD79B protein, with a mass of approximately 25 kDa, is required for the initiation of signal transduction upon antigen binding to the BCR, leading to internalization of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes, and antigen presentation. It enhances phosphorylation of CD79A, possibly by recruiting kinases such as BLK, LYN, and SYK, and is itself phosphorylated on tyrosine residues upon B-cell activation. CD79B is encoded on chromosome 17 and exhibits protein binding, transmembrane signaling receptor activity, and homodimerization capabilities. Mutations in CD79B are associated with immunodeficiency disorders such as Agammaglobulinemia 6, Autosomal Recessive, which is characterized by a lack of mature B cells and low immunoglobulin levels, leading to increased susceptibility to infections. Protein Function: Required in cooperation with CD79A for initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) which leads to internalization of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes and antigen presentation. Enhances phosphorylation of CD79A, possibly by recruiting kinases which phosphorylate CD79A or by recruiting proteins which bind to CD79A and protect it from dephosphorylation [The Uniprot Consortium]
