Product information "Anti-Human CD1C Antibody Pair"
Product Description: CD1c molecule (CD1C) is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the CD1 family, structurally related to Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) proteins. It forms heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin and specializes in presenting lipid and glycolipid antigens, both self and microbial, to T-cell receptors on natural killer T-cells. Unlike other CD1 isoforms, CD1c features a unique open F' groove that allows it to accommodate diverse lipid antigens, including those with methyl-branched structures. This structural adaptation enables CD1c to bind and present antigens such as mannosyl-beta1-phosphomycoketide (MPM) from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, playing a critical role in immune responses. The protein is broadly distributed throughout the endocytic system, guided by a tyrosine-based motif in its cytoplasmic tail. Diseases associated with CD1c include histiocytosis and follicular dendritic cell sarcoma. Protein Function: Antigen-presenting protein that binds self and non-self lipid and glycolipid antigens and presents them to T-cell receptors on natural killer T-cells [The Uniprot Consortium]
