Product information "Anti-Human CCL2 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: CCL2, also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), is a small cytokine that belongs to the CC chemokine family. It plays a crucial role in regulating cellular mechanics and recruiting monocytes, memory T cells, and dendritic cells to sites of inflammation caused by tissue injury or infection. CCL2 is implicated in the pathogenesis of several diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, and various neuroinflammatory diseases of the central nervous system. The CCL2-CCR2 signaling axis has been extensively studied, as it is associated with the progression of conditions like cardiovascular disease, acute liver failure, rheumatoid arthritis, pulmonary hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. Dysregulation of CCL2 expression and the CCL2-CCR2 axis can lead to ineffective functions and cause several diseases, including adverse pregnancy outcomes like spontaneous abortion, preeclampsia, and preterm labor. Overall, CCL2 is a key player in regulating inflammatory processes and its dysregulation is implicated in the pathogenesis of a wide range of diseases. Protein Function: Acts as a ligand for C-C chemokine receptor CCR2 (PubMed:10529171, PubMed:10587439, PubMed:9837883). Signals through binding and activation of CCR2 and induces a strong chemotactic response and mobilization of intracellular calcium ions (PubMed:10587439, PubMed:9837883). Exhibits a chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils (PubMed:8195247, PubMed:8627182, PubMed:9792674). May be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis (PubMed:8107690) [The Uniprot Consortium]
