Product information "Anti-Human Cardiac Troponin C Antibody Pair"
Product Description: The TNNC1 gene encodes for Troponin C(cTnC), a protein crucial for muscle contraction by binding calcium. Troponin C is part of the troponin complex found in striated muscle, including cardiac and slow skeletal muscle. It plays a key role in activating muscle contraction by binding calcium ions. Mutations in the TNNC1 gene have been associated with conditions like dilated cardiomyopathy. The gene is located on chromosome 3p21.3-3p14.3 in humans. Troponin C has a regulatory N-terminal domain and a structural C-terminal domain, each containing EF-hand motifs for calcium binding. In cardiac muscle, Troponin C interacts with other troponin subunits to regulate muscle contraction. Studies have shown that Troponin C is highly conserved and plays a critical role in understanding heart failure, cardiomyopathies, and the development of cardiac drugs. Protein Function: Troponin is the central regulatory protein of striated muscle contraction. Tn consists of three components: Tn-I which is the inhibitor of actomyosin ATPase, Tn-T which contains the binding site for tropomyosin and Tn-C. The binding of calcium to Tn-C abolishes the inhibitory action of Tn on actin filaments [The Uniprot Consortium]
