Product Description: Calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase kinase 1 (CAMKK1) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CAMK) family, characterized by a kinase domain with an N-terminal lobe of beta-strands and a predominantly alpha-helical C-terminal lobe. It contains an auto-inhibitory domain overlapping with a calmodulin-binding domain at the C-terminus, which keeps the enzyme inactive until calcium/calmodulin binding activates it. CAMKK1 functions as an upstream kinase in the calcium-triggered signaling cascade, phosphorylating and activating downstream kinases such as CAMK1 and CAMK4, thereby regulating transcription factors, cell cycle, hormone production, neurite outgrowth, and actin cytoskeleton organization. Structural studies have revealed its ATP-binding pocket and interactions with potent inhibitors, aiding selective drug design.
